This month, I went in each of the classrooms and talked about gratitude. Gratitude is extremely important for our mental and emotional well-being. Research has shown that gratitude decreases anxiety, depression, and anger. It also helps us do better in school, live longer, improves our self-esteem, relationships, and sleep, increases our resiliency, and improves our overall quality of life and happiness.
Gratitude is more than just saying thank you. It’s noticing what you are grateful for, thinking about why you are grateful for that thing, recognizing how gratitude makes you feel, and doing something to show your gratitude. As a parent, you are the best teacher for your child to learn gratitude in their lives. Here are some simple ways to help your child practice gratitude:
