During this time of uncertainty, confusion, job loss, illness, ect. There is an increase in depression and anxiety. This is a normal reaction to very stressful situations. It is important to reach out and ask for help if you or anyone you know is struggling with anxiety or depression, even during social isolation. Mental health providers are offering services via phone and internet. Throughout the State of Utah there are several resources being offered for both adults and children who may be needing mental health assistance. Please remember if a person is life threatening to call 911 or take them to the nearest emergency department. Below are some of the resources available during COVID-19: INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTHCARE- Anyone experiencing emotional distress relating to COVID-19 can call the hotline at 833-422-2211 free of charge 10 am-10 pm UTAH STATEWIDE CRISIS LINE- in association with the National Suicide Pevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255 Call 24/7 to speak to a licensed crisis counselor if you or a loved one are having thoughts of suicide, are experiencing an emotional or mental health crisis, or are feeling overwhelmed and need support UTAH WARM LINE- 801-587-1055 Open 7 days a week from 7a.m. to 11p.m. Call to speak to a certified peer support specialist. This service is for people who are not in crisis but seeking emotional support, engagement, or encouragement. This is a great resource for people who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, isolated or if they just need someone to talk to. SAFEUT- Crisis Chat and Tip Line that provides real-time crisis interventions to youth (K-12 and higher education) through live chat and a confidential tip program- right through your smartphone. Licensed crisis counselors are available 24/7. Support is also available to parents and educators of K-12 and higher education. Free and available for download from Google Play Store and the App Store STABILIZATION AND MOBILE RESPONSE TEAM- 1-723-3326 Services for families with children up to the age of 21 who need assistance with any problem at any time. This is a free service available 24/7. Call to speak to a licensed counselor. Will help solve issues with children who are struggling in school, verbally or physically aggressive, bullies or are bullied, often runs away, uses substances, destroys or steals property, threatens to inflict harm upon self or others, in withdrawn from peers and friends, experiences depression or anxiety, demonstrates severe changes in mood, or other difficult or challenging behaviors. THE FAMILY PLACE- 1-435-752-8880 Crisis Nursery- Child care for children 11 and younger. For parents who are struggling and feeling overwhelmed and are needing a break for a few hours. Call to schedule an appointment. STOP, BREATHE, AND THINK APP- Free mindfulness app to help with anxiety, depression, anger, and other unwanted emotions. This is not an app for crisis situations, but it is a great tool for kids and adults. You can plug in your emotions, and it pulls up a guided meditation based on your feelings. Please remember that though we are in a lockdown world we still need each other. We are not meant to deal with these difficulties alone. Please reach out, and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Your neighbors, friends, and family are also a resource for help. Even if we need to be in social isolation right now, we don’t need to be in emotional isolation. We can still connect with others and get through this together!
